An unexpected tale of entrepreneurship started in Los Angeles
Born and raised in China, Pocket Sun (@pocketysun) came to LA for her master's degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Never did she plan on becoming an entrepreneur, but she quickly realized that gender disparity is a huge issue. She felt compelled to change the status quo and disrupt the boys' club. And that's exactly what she did.
SoGal was born - a platform that empowers emerging entrepreneurs to succeed, and a community that unites global founders to change the world. Since the beginning, SoGal has been relentlessly bringing new ideas to life and supporting great startups. Our first conference SoGal Summit attracted 500+ diverse leaders, making it one of the largest (and we think the most awesome) celebrations of diversity and entrepreneurship in Southern California. We then hosted the SoGal Startup Bootcamp, the first 3-day female entrepreneurship festival and conference. Many attendees said our events were "a phenomenal success", "life-changing", and "one of the best conferences" they have ever attended.
In a year, SoGal has attracted nearly 4,000 members from over 20 countries. We are going global with chapters in Singapore, Vietnam, New York City, San Francisco, Hong Kong... If you want to start a SoGal chapter in your city or university, talk to us!
